Topic Highlights: Europe's Harvest

As the summer comes to an end, the harvest season is set to begin all over Europe. This site offers you the chance to analyse the agricultural production in the EU Member States. With a total production of 36 million tons, France for example is the leading country as far as wheat production is concerned, whereas Cyprus is bottom of the list with just 9300 tons.

Of all EU Member State economies, the Lithuanian is the most dominated by agriculture and forestry. In 2004, the primary sector accounted for 5.2% of the Lithuanian Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Luxemburg is at the other end of the scale with a GDP share of just 0.5%.

The following Eurostat data tables and publications offer information on the structure of agricultural sector in each of the 25 EU Member States and provide data on many different issues such as crop production, the number of registered organic operators, the number of vineyards, information on pesticides and many other related topics.
